Lesson Overview:
Activation: Students will be asked to gather into groups to discuss potential perspectives on WWII and problems regarding nationalism - concerning Canada's affiliation with the Allied forces. Groups are asked to represent their ideas in a mind-map, both written and visual (picture) on a piece of chart paper. This will be shared with the class, and a master mind-map created on the board.
Acquiring: Students will be asked to read (from textbook or electronic reading device) OR listen to a recording (personal audio device) of the textbook to gather further information on Canadian perspectives of the war. Student will also watch a short 10 minute video clip (from Canada- a People's History) for supplementary information. Student's will continue to add to their mind-map in a new colour of marker - reflecting new knowledge or the editing of older ideas.
